Recipe Challenge

Hello to the blogosphere from America! Sorry for the silence for the past few months… no excuses really other than just not getting around to blogging. But, I have an idea, and I am going to try and be better about blogging more regularly. Goal is once a week, but I guess we’ll see what happens!

So the idea is this – a recipe challenge!!

As we cook and eat here in America, we are THOROUGHLY enjoying all of the yummy yummy food. I am enjoying several ingredients that are impossible to get where we live, and I also feel like I make the same dishes over and over at home in Indonesia (I’m sure that everyone feels this way). Here is the challenge: I’ll give the list of things we can’t get there and you can submit your best recipe that does not include any of those ingredients!

Here is the list (again, things we CANNOT get):

Celery

Zucchini

Asparagus

Brussel Sprouts

Yams

Bacon

Sausage

Pepperoni

Cream

Cheese other than okay-ish mozzarella

Sour Cream

Beef has to be cooked to death(because it is VERY lean and tough)

Panko bread crumbs

Lunch meat and deli products

Pickles

Berries (any sort, blueberries, strawberries, etc.)

Stone fruit (peaches, plums, nectarines)

It’s really not that much, but some of it makes looking for good new yummy recipes a little frustrating. So, bring it on! Comment and leave links to your favorite recipes that don’t include any of these ingredients.

I’m excited to see what kind of responses we get, and I’ll do follow-up posts with the ones that we’re going to try!
